“Goya Foods today announced that it is donating 120,000 pounds of food to aid victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Peru on August 15th. The disaster has affected over 150,000 lives that are left without food or shelter. Upon hearing of the tragedy, Goya employees quickly mobilized to provide relief. “La Gran Familia Goya, many of whom are Peruvian, or of Peruvian descent, are deeply affected by this event,” says Mr. Bob Unanue, President of Goya Foods, Inc.
Goya is the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States and has a long-standing history of responding when countries are affected by natural disasters. Most recently the company has spear-headed relief for victims of hurricane Katrina, the South Asian Tsunami and has consistently responded to countries throughout Latin America during times of crisis. “It is of great importance that Goya answer the call in time of need,” continues Mr. Unanue. “We emphatically encourage others to do what they can to help these victims and their families as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives.”
