“As Margarita Chavez strolled through the Hispanic Heritage Festival sipping an Inca Kola, she felt right at home and yet realized that there was still much to learn.
“I’m really surprised by all the different cultures here today,” said the Yonkers woman, 26, who emigrated from El Salvador five years ago. “I had Peruvian chicken and I’m still looking for other kinds of food I can try.”
The 26th annual Hispanic Heritage Festival, which celebrated the cultures of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries represented in Westchester County, was the right place to be, Chavez found.”
