Hispanic community is county’s fastest growing minority group – Winnebago County, Wisconsin

Tagged: , , ,

“The Victoria’s are hoping to target a growing Hispanic population in Winnebago County and the county’s taste for Mexican cuisine. The community grew 40 percent in the county, from 6,130 people to 8,620, between 2000 and 2006, according to population estimates.

From churches to celebrations, the growing group is changing the face of the county. The Rev. Tom Reynebeau, pastor of St. Jude the Apostle Parish, has noticed the growth since Catholic churches in Omro and Oshkosh started holding Spanish-language Masses. Reynebeau said the growing visibility of the Hispanic population is good for the county.”
