The Singleton home was next door to a drive-in movie theater.
Sitting in the dark, watching movies without sound, young Singleton fell in love with an art form. His passion led him to study film at the University of Southern California, where his student filmmaking skills so impressed studio executives that he was offered a chance to write and direct a major Hollywood movie fresh out of school.”
