Rice is at the heart of refreshing Mexican horchata

A great thirst quencher is an agua fresca, a Mexican drink typically made with fruit and water and served over ice. In Mexico, street vendors offer cantaloupe, watermelon, tamarind and even hibiscus-flavored aguas. They ladle the bright red, orange and brown drinks from giant glass containers. In Dallas, you can sometimes buy these fresh aguas at Latino supermarkets. Then there’s agua de horchata, a sweet, milky-white drink usually made with uncooked rice.”
