Cop who stole money from Hispanic drivers sentenced – Georgia
Tagged: Chana, fbi, Georgia, police, prisonPosted on: August 13th, 2007“A former Cedartown police officer, apparently seeing Hispanic drivers as an easy target for getting extra cash, was sentenced Friday in federal court to more than two years in prison. He must repay each of his victims $2,300.
Douglas Damiano, 37, of Buchanan, pleaded guilty in March to three counts of depriving the drivers of their property, a federal charge that came out of an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the FBI and the Cedartown Police Department, using a Gordon County deputy as a decoy.
Damiano also will spend three years on probation after he completes his two years and three months in prison.”
