Hispanic golf pioneer from San Antonio dies – Joe Jimenez

He learned the sport as a caddie in his native Kerrville in the 1930s, one of a scattering of kids toting bags around Schreiner’s nine-hole municipal layout in order to gain tee times for open play on Mondays.
“And from that little open door,” Jimenez said recently, “wonderful things happened.”"
