Polk’s New Largest Minority: Hispanic – Florida
Tagged: Florida, populationPosted on: August 9th, 2007“For the first time, Hispanics are Polk County’s largest minority, according to new U.S. Census Bureau population estimates for 2006 released today.
Of the county’s 561,606 residents, Hispanics are 14.5 percent and blacks, 14.2 percent. In 2000, blacks were 13.9 percent and Hispanics, 10 percent.
Polks Hispanic population has jumped to 81,646, a whopping 44 percent increase in six years.”
