“Census figures show that an influx of Hispanics are behind much of the population growth in Washington since 2000.

The Census estimates that Washington’s Hispanic population grew by 28 percent. Hispanics make up about nine percent of the overall population of Washington, where more than six million people live. Hispanics make up 14 percent of the population nationally.”
