Merced to use foto-novelas to lure Latino men to college

“An early 20th century form of entertainment in Latino culture is being used by Merced College to attract 21st century students.

Beginning next week, the college will distribute “foto-novelas” that express the real-life benefits of a college education into areas of Merced County with heavy Hispanic populatiosn. Foto-novelas are comic book-style magazines that use photographs to illustrate the lives of various characters in a variety of dramatic situations.”
