“The Hispanic College Fund today announced the election of Ileana M. Hernandez, Partner, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP to the board of trustees. She will begin serving a three year term effective August 1, 2007.
Ileana M. Hernandez’s practice focuses on general business and commercial litigation. She represents clients in federal and state courts and is actively involved in all phases of litigation. In addition, she specializes in bankruptcy litigation and has practiced extensively in federal bankruptcy court.
“We are excited to have her on our board,” said Fernando Barrueta, CEO, Hispanic College Fund. “As our programs continue to grow both nationally and particularly in California, she will be instrumental in our progress.”
Ms. Hernandez is active in the firm’s pro bono program and has represented Spanish-speaking families in adoption and guardianship cases, children seeking asylum in the United States and battered women seeking permanent resident status. Prior to joining Manatt, Ms. Hernandez served as a judicial extern to District Court Judge Audrey B. Collins in the Central District of California. Ms. Hernandez received her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995 and her J.D. from the University of Southern California in 1998.
