“El Pollo Loco Inc., a fast food chain specializing in flame-grilled chicken, lost a $21 million jury verdict in Texas to a Mexican company of the same name in a trademark and contract dispute.

The rights to the El Pollo Loco name in Mexico were assigned in 1996 under an agreement between the U.S. El Pollo Loco company and one controlled by Juan Francisco Ochoa, founder of the first El Pollo Loco.”
