Knowledge is Power!

I am constantly getting e-mailed press releases or finding releases to post on HispanicTips (over 3000 here alone) and I almost never (99% of the time) include the images that are part of the release because they take to long for me to include (many times I would need to resize, I mean who sends a blogger, a webbie an image at 300 dpi - the web uses 72dpi). I am not going to work longer and harder for any one story to get you more free exposure. Make it easy for me and there is a much greater chance of me posting your stuff. Take the advice of someone who has posted roughly 39,000 times in 3 years. I am a pro.

Here are some good ideas from my creative crazy mind

  • Host images on your own servers and send me the code ie <img src="someURL" alt="sometext" /> as part of your release. Make sure to include an alt description. I can post these quickly
  • Put your images into a slideshow export to some video format or just transfer your commercial to a smaller dimension and put it up on youtube or other site and then send me the embed code. Music PR is already doing this with their artist’s videos. You need to think about video press releases, embrace youtube, most of the public already has. Of course, I am a blogger so I am much, much more flexible than other media but it would be cool.
  • Send me your release as html as an attachment - I might change something but could have more control over formatting
  • Press Release companies why not provide your release as pre-formatted html. You already have a print version. Get an html version this would help diffusion of the releases stripped of head and body tags etc, so I can quickly grab. You could even include your own styles #prcomanyheader etc and give links to the images on your server - a one stop shop for bloggers and others to pick up your releases easily

I should charge a consulting fee here.

One last thing, make sure the release is relevant. Just because it is in Spanish or has one line about a Hispanic cast member isn’t enough.
