“Between puffs off a menthol cigarette, director Kinan Valdez coolly considers whether “Zoot Suit,” a play written by his father Luis Valdez, is the most popular Chicano play of all time.

After a brief pause, Valdez, says, “I would think at this point, yeah.”

Valdez, 34, is the director of the plays latest revival, which opened last month at San Juan Bautistas El Teatro Campesino, the farmworkers theater founded by Luis Valdez. The production runs through Sept. 16.”
