Knowledge is Power!
“Hispanic Teleservices Corporation (HTC), is again earning its catchphrase as “The Different Call Center,” this time with its new HTC Philanthropy program that puts a grassroots spin on corporate responsibility.
As HTC has grown rapidly over the last several years, to more than 2,000 employees, the HTC Philanthropy program was created to use the company’s strength in numbers to give back to the communities where its call center sites are located; currently in Monterrey and Guadalajara, Mexico, with a third location coming soon.
The focus of HTC Philanthropy is to improve the lives of children. From there the causes that the program supports are up to the employees themselves. In the past six months, HTC has donated substantial resources to: Hogares Betania which helps prevent child homelessness, Instituto Nuevo Amanecer which improves the lives of children with cerebral palsy, and the Associacion Regiomontana of Cystic Fibrosis which helps educate about and treat children with Cystic Fibrosis.
With a large, young and energetic workforce, HTC believes its employees can make a real difference. In fact, the company doubles, and has even tripled the amount of donations collected by its employees. In 2007 alone, HTC has donated over $40,000 USD, including the employee and company contributions.
The HTC Philanthropy program allows employees at all levels to propose charities which they believe could benefit from either monetary or time and talent donations. HTC has set guidelines that proposed organizations must meet to assure that the cause is a valid one where the contributions would be well accounted for and well spent. A committee comprised of two HTC Directors, a board member from The Carlyle Group, and a representative from HTC’s Culture department are responsible for reviewing proposed organizations that meet the program’s specifications. Only organizations that have been proposed by an HTC employee are considered by the committee that determines which causes HTC will assist and the priority to do so.
“Inspiration is one of our core values at HTC. We believe we are people inspiring people and are always seeking ways to broaden the scope of those we inspire, and those who inspire us,” said Alberto Fernandez, CEO of Hispanic Teleservices Corporation. “At HTC we believe it is our social responsibility to give back to our communities. We also believe that children in our communities are our future – and there is no better way to secure our future than investing in them.”
“The Instituto Nuevo Amanecer relies on the support and participation of corporate donations, and HTC allowed us to achieve outstanding results this year,” said Marco Amaya, General Director of Instituto Nuevo Amanecer. “At our most recent Rubber Duck Race fundraising event, a total of 3,194 rubber ducks were purchased through corporate organizations and over half of those were from HTC.”
The HTC Philanthropy program allows its employees to make a difference together and is also taking advantage of its rapid growth to help more and more children each day.
