“On Thursday, a newspaper published in Spanish will hit distribution racks all over Waco as the Tribune-Herald aims to serve the growing Hispanic population and market.

The Trib plans to initially put out 7,000 copies of Fronteras de la Noticia. It will charge nothing for the 16-page newspaper, though advertisers wanting to run classified or display ads in Spanish will pay fees.

Nationally since 1990, Spanish-language newspaper circulation has more than tripled and advertising revenue has increased sevenfold, Tribune-Herald Editor Carlos Sanchez said, citing the Journalism.org Web site that publishes an annual report on the state of American journalism.”
