“Actress Gina Rodriguez can feel the spirit of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in her bones.

The 22-year-old is thrilled to portray her role model in the American Stage Theatre Companys world premiere of “Casa Blue, The Last Moments in the Life of Frida Kahlo.” The season closer opens at 8 p.m. Friday, during the month that Kahlo would have celebrated her 100th birthday.

As a role model, Kahlos memoirs linked Rodriguez to her Hispanic heritage when she moved to the United States from Puerto Rico as a youth.”
