*BILINGUAL NEWS REPORTER* 88.5FM WFCR, NPR News and Music for Western New England, licensed to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, seeks a creative, highly motivated reporter to work full time in its award winning news department. The position is general assignment, but will focus on issues related to the region’s communities of color. On-air reporting will be done in both Spanish and English. Responsibilities include newscast spot production, feature reports and fill-in hosting. This position will also focus on a variety of tasks for WFCR’s news and public affairs, Spanish-language program, “Tertulia” and will be based at the station’s Springfield news bureau.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Candidates must speak Spanish and English fluently and have proper command of grammar in both languages. Minimum of three years experience meeting daily radio journalism deadlines in a newsroom setting. Ability to research, write, edit, produce and broadcast high-quality news and feature material. Demonstrated skill in writing for radio broadcast and digital audio editing. Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations and the conflict of interest issues pertaining to radio journalism. Familiarity with public broadcasting and public radio. Ability to travel to locations of news stories and to work hours outside of the normal business day.

WFCR is located in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, a region renowned for distinguished educational institutions and a vibrant artistic and cultural life. Amherst is quintessentially New England with easy access to major metropolitan centers of the Northeast.

Salary: $32,200 - $40,800 (normal starting salary $32,200 - $36,500). Excellent benefits.
