“Officials have picked a veteran firefighter from Texas to replace outgoing Fire Chief Larry Hellmann.
The appointment of Steve Abraira, who will become the first Hispanic to head a public safety-related department in Palm Bay, comes nearly a week after City Manager Lee Feldman conducted a round of interviews with six job candidates. More than 30 people applied for the position which will pay between $75,000 to $113,000 a year.”
