Knowledge is Power!
“I am from Spain, and have been teaching kindergarten at Marsh Elementary School since 2001. During this time I have been involved with the Hispanic community at Marsh. I have been an interpreter in meetings and translator of letters.
This school year I came up with the idea of establishing an after-school program for parents. My principal, Veronica Kimble, supported that idea and helped me with the program.
Every Monday after school, I met in my classroom with the Hispanic parents whose children were in kindergarten and first grade. Some parents had to work; others had to take care of their children, or elders, but they made the effort to come and learn.”
