“”The seminars are designed for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs. We know there are a lot of seminars around, but most of them are in English,” he said. “There is a substantial Spanish-speaking population in Frederick, and they may not have a place to go to learn about importing to the U.S.”

In 1990, about 150,000 people lived in Frederick and fewer than 2,000 Hispanics called Frederick home, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Hispanics accounted for about 1.3 percent of the countys population.

Last year, more than 220,000 people lived in Frederick, more than 10,000 of them Hispanic, or about 4.5 percent of the population.”
