Knowledge is Power!
“Van de Putte never imagined entering politics as she grew up in San Antonio dreaming of running a neighborhood pharmacy just like her grandfathers. She opened her shop in 1985 and juggled filling prescriptions with raising a rapidly growing family. Her first daughter, Nichole, was born in 1980 and five more followed in the next nine years.
But beneath that comfortable routine, something was pulling Van de Putte toward public service. She was incensed that there was a comprehensive policy for immunizing Texas cows and not Texas children. And she was fed up with the states laissez-faire attitude toward small businesses like her pharmacy and her husbands flag manufacturing company.”
