Race and Rhythm is a Contemporary Dance and Performing Arts Company based in London.The company often incorporates media, original recorded and live music as Its aim is to create an intercultural exchange through The Performing Arts and to make Contemporary Dance more accessible to all kinds of audiences.

By incorporating a new movement vocabulary based on popular, traditional, historical, artistic dance styles or just everyday life themes, Race and Rhythm is working towards the delivery of a clear message the audience can identify and interact with.

“Frida” production is inspired by the life and work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and celebrates a fusion of Spanish, Mexican, Argentinean, North American and British cultures.

Six international female dancers a singer and a violinist represent the different passages of Kahlo’s life. A male dancer embodies her partner, Diego Rivera. Colourful costumes and projections based on Kahlo’s paintings gave the piece a strong Mexican flavour.

The distinctive contemporary dance vocabulary inspired by Spanish, Argentinean Tango and Hip Hop styles portray a collage of the life and work of the painter.Together with the use of digital projections, original music, set and costume design Frida combines to tell the artist’s story in a powerful and memorable performance.

The new production is been developed from an existing 25 minute piece performed at the Robin Howard Theater to the international London resident audiences. Due to the success of the work that had excellent audiences feedback and reviews, the company has created a full length work that it will be premiere on 6th September at The Frida Kahlo Theater , 2332 W. Fourth St, Los Angeles, California 90057 on celebration of the mexican Artist birth Centenary.
