Los Angeles, CA, July 11, 2007 – Bilingual Los Angeles-based rock band, Monte Negro are confirmed as the opening act for the Grammy award winning solo artist and No Doubt front woman, Gwen Stefani. The concert will take place on Wednesday, July 18 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan , Puerto Rico .
Monte Negro have just finished up a three week festival tour in Puerto Rico in support of their album, Cicatrix, released there in April. The band is currently in New York for this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference with a slot in BMI’s “Verano Alternativo” showcase at SOB’s on Wednesday, July 11.
Monte Negro is vocalist, Kinski Gallo, guitarist and back up vocalist, Jason Li Shing, bassist Rodax and drummer, Javier Lopez. The band’s debut album, Cicatrix, is set for release on August 21 through Feed The Hungry Records/Adrenaline Music. Produced by Tone (Green Day, Carlos Santana) the album features 13 exquisite tracks that explore the beauty of both, English and Spanish. The group has performed alongside Latin rockers Molotov, Ozomatli, Zoe, Todos Tus Muertos and Café Tacuba.
