“Gilbert Casares lived life carrying out Gods message, helping the poor and those facing discrimination through his tireless work with the American GI Forum, family and friends recalled at his funeral Tuesday.

Casares, who died Thursday from complications of pneumonia, struggled alongside civil rights champion Dr. Hector P. Garcia, fighting for equality and justice for Hispanic veterans.”
