Brown Planet speaks to liberation

“The Chicano Messengers of Spoken Word aka Paul Flores, Amalia Ortiz and Marc David Pinate present the Texas premiere of their play Fear of a Brown Planet this weekend at DiverseWorks. Loosely based on Jean Paul Sartres No Exit, Brown Planet depicts three Chicano archetypes who find themselves in an internment camp with no memory of how or why they got there.

Flores, Ortiz and Pinate gained national recognition through HBOs Def Poetry and the National Slam Poetry Championships. Brown Planet, premiered in San Francisco in 2005 and since been seen in Denver, Miami and other cities, is their first play.”
