In his own quiet way, the veteran newsman served as a prominent emissary to the local community, and the world of journalism beyond San Jose.
Ramirez’s unexpected death June 20 drew an outpouring of grief and fond reminiscing from friends and colleagues around the country. Many remarked on the long hours he spent helping to organize a recent national convention in San Jose of Hispanic journalists, as well as the many times that he acted as a mentor for students and young reporters.”
