Governor is wrong about Spanish media – Maria Elena Salinas
Tagged: California, Fresno, Maria Elena Salinas, student, teacherPosted on: June 26th, 2007“California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to have found the solution to how Hispanic students can improve academically. Its not by studying harder or reading more. Its not by providing tutors or encouraging parental involvement.
The solution is not hiring teachers who are better qualified or who Latino students can culturally identify with. Its not reducing class size in overcrowded schools so they can receive more personalized attention. The governor thinks the solution is much simpler than that: “Youve got to turn off the Spanish television set.”"
