County Executive John R. Leopold eliminated $180,000 in what is referred to in the budget as “ethnic initiatives” as part of a $3.1 million cut to nonprofit groups.“Ive taken a strong public position on any public assistance to illegal immigrants,” Mr. Leopold said last month. “Any organization that might be providing assistance for illegal immigrants I am not going to support.”"
