“Arizona employers who hire illegal immigrants could face stiff sanctions, including the possibility of a virtual death sentence for their businesses under some circumstances, if a bill aimed at curbing illegal immigration becomes law.

The bill HB2779, overwhelmingly approved by the Legislature in the waning hours Wednesday of the 2007 legislative session, puts employers business licenses issued by state and local governments on the line if they knowingly or intentionally hire people not legally authorized under federal law to work in the United States.”
