“A measure that would have required Carpentersville government to only issue publications in English became a nonbinding resolution at a village meeting on Tuesday.

The resolution — an official statement that wouldn’t prohibit the government from continuing to offer foreign-language services and literature to residents — passed 5-2 amid loud protests.”
