“More than one thousand guests poured into the Industry Hills Expo Center on Sunday, June 3rd searching for information and the best deals on services for the preparation of a Quinceañera, a young lady’s fifteenth birthday celebration. The Quinceañera celebrations have been a cultural milestone for Hispanics for centuries, and planning for such events today is comparable to planning for an elaborate wedding.

Presented by El Clasificado for the second straight year, the “Quinceañera Expo and Fashion Show” (www.quinceanera.com) hosted over 40 exhibitors offering quinceañera products and services, such as cakes, makeup application, limousine rentals and, of course, quinceañera gowns. With so many vendors, attendees were at a clear advantage and were able to negotiate with the vendors to obtain the most reasonable prices.

“This event was great because it gave us so many ideas for my daughter’s celebration,” exclaimed Bertha Montoya from Lawndale. “I found everything I was looking for at this expo, and I was even able to choose a dress for my daughter’s celebration.”

Sponsors were also excited about the amount of business and number of leads that this expo generated. “We had read about this event, but nothing compares to actually attending and seeing for yourself,” exclaimed Rafael Rosas of Rosa’s Bakery. “I was thrilled that guests kept coming back for more information after tasting samples of our cake! We will definitely return as sponsors next year.”

The Expo also featured a dazzling fashion show with vibrantly colored quinceañera gowns courtesy of City Terrace-based Paloma’s Boutique. The gowns were modeled by several models representing various Mexican “federations” – private social clubs for Mexican Americans in Southern California who originate from the same Mexican state or region. The models included Señorita de Los Angeles, Señorita Sinaloa, Primera Princesa Jalisco de Los Angeles, Señorita Jamay, and Señorita Zacatecas.

Guests were also treated to an outdoors live performance by La Sonora Dinamita de Lucho Argain, which added more excitement to the already lively environment.

The event concluded with the announcement of the five winners of El Clasificado’s Achievement Award Essay contest. A total of five inner city students were chosen among more than 90 participants, and awarded based on their essays, grades, and passion for completing a secondary education. The essay winners each received a scholarship and gifts valued at $350 courtesy of El Clasificado, Payless Shoes and Paloma’s Boutique.
The “Quinceañera Expo and Fashion Show” is an annual event organized and presented by El Clasificado (www.elclasificado.com). In addition to serving as an easily accessible platform for Hispanic families to attain various products and services, the event also encourages young girls to begin preparing for college at a young age and provides them with the opportunity of financial assistance.
