“Like Champaign-Urbana, other area school districts also are seeing an increase in their population of Spanish-speaking students.

Danville saw its Hispanic student population increase from 5.4 percent in 2002 to 6.3 percent in 2006, according to the state school district report cards.

Rantoul saw a greater jump in its Hispanic student population, from 2.9 percent in 2002 to 8.1 percent in 2006.”
