Eddie Piolin Sotelo Delivers over One Million Letters in Support of Immigration Reform to Congress

“Today, radio personality Eddie “Piolín” Sotelo will hand deliver over one million letters signed by U.S. citizens and/or legal residents in support of the passage of a fair and just immigration reform bill this year to bi-partisan members of Congress. Piolín’s “Por la Reforma Migratoria con Piolín” campaign marks the first time that a letter writing campaign has generated such a large number of letters in support of immigration reform.

“I am humbled by the overwhelming support that this campaign has received and I believe wholeheartedly in the urgent need for immigration reform in our great country,” said Piolín. “Fair and just immigration reform is needed to address the current and future challenges our nation faces and will continue to face in the future. I sincerely thank everyone who has shown their support for this cause, both here in D.C. and across the U.S.”

Piolín began his letter writing campaign on Univision Radio’s “Piolín por La Mañana” and on Univision.com just six weeks ago. Five days ago, he left from Los Angeles, beginning his cross-country caravan journey and making stops in Albuquerque, Dallas and Chicago to collect letters from U.S. citizens and legal residents in a united quest for immigration reform.

Piolin’s letter delivery will take place today, June 14, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. ET in Senate Upper Park Corner of Constitution and Delaware. Senators Kennedy D-MA, Martinez R-FL, Menendez D-NJ, Salazar D-CO, and Specter R-PA, as well as members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Congressional Hispanic Conference will be present to receive the signed letters.

Univision Radio’s “Piolín por La Mañana” is the top ranked morning show in Los Angeles regardless of language and its 27 syndicated markets make it the #1 show in the country. Apart from his commitment to his listeners, Piolín is one of the most televised radio personalities in the nation with regular appearances on national shows like Sábado Gigante and Cristina as well as interviews on CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and Good Morning America, among others.”
