Instead of a presidential wasteland, people now look back on 2000-2006 and see six years of fundamental economic strength and stability, a rare stretch in Mexicos history. Inflation fell to U.S. levels. The pesos purchasing power strengthened. The government balanced budgets, and foreign investment flowed in to build factories, sparking unprecedented job growth.”
