“Soldiers driving military humvees armed with machine gun turrets on Tuesday started patrolling the streets of Mexicos third largest city, Monterrey, where drug-related violence has claimed the lives of 25 police officers this year.
The convoys drove through the rough suburb of Santa Catarina, where assailants with Kalashnikovs gunned down a traffic police director on Monday. Troops also patrolled the center of Monterrey and the wealthy suburb of San Pedro Garza Garcia.”
