“More than three-quarters of the drivers arrested in April and early May under a Suffolk County police policy calling for the arrest of unlicensed drivers who can’t produce identification were Hispanic, a review of the arrests has found, and most of the traffic stops occurred in areas with large Hispanic populations.

Police reports and court records reviewed by Newsday showed that nearly 66 percent of the arrests occurred in the Sixth and Third Precincts, which include communities such as Farmingville and Brentwood, where there are large concentrations of Hispanic residents.”
