“The National Council of La Raza NCLR, the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., and the National Immigration Law Center NILC will hold a press briefing on Friday, May 18 with Representative Howard Berman D-CA and other members of Congress. The briefing will include Latino, African, and Asian students who have lived in the U.S. for years and experienced obstacles to pursuing higher education due to their immigration status. The briefing will be held in the Gold Room, 2168 of the Rayburn House Office Building, beginning at 11:00 a.m., or immediately following Friday’s hearing on comprehensive immigration reform.
The students participating in the briefing will be testifying before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law at the hearing entitled, “Comprehensive Immigration Reform: The Future of Undocumented Immigrant Students,” in Room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office Building, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
