“El Clasificado was launched as a free community publication to provide access to services, products and information for the Spanish-speaking community in Southern California. After nineteen years, El Clasificado remains committed to this community and continues to invest in it by offering mentoring programs, grassroots events, scholarship opportunities and much more.

Amidst its nineteenth anniversary, El Clasificado has plenty to celebrate. Over the past month, the company received four prominent awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) and the Association of Free Community Papers (AFCP), two very highly respected and distinguished organizations in the newspaper industry. Two of the bigger wins for El Clasificado were a first place award for its “Outstanding Circulation Program”””a highly-coveted category in the newspaper industry today””as well as an “Outstanding Publication” honorable mention. These awards recognize El Clasificado’s excellence among Hispanic and community publications nationwide.

El Clasificado’s verified circulation has steadily grown over the years. Bucking the trend of sharp circulation declines across the print publication industry, El Clasificado’s verified circulation is 250,000, and growing””a clear testament to the company’s unique distribution model.

“These awards come at a special time for El Clasificado,” said Martha de la Torre, Publisher and CEO of El Clasificado. “Such recognition really puts into perspective the scope of our reach. It serves as a reminder that we have a special commitment to serve Southern Californian’s expansive Hispanic community, which has received us so openly and has truly been the key to our success.”

El Clasificado has embarked on an aggressive effort to broaden its effectiveness and value to customers. Over the past year, El Clasificado has successfully ventured into new advertising platforms such as grassroots community events and mobile services. Also, to commemorate its nineteenth anniversary, El Clasificado launched its newly redesigned website www.elclasificado.com. The upgraded website is cleaner, more user-friendly, and more focused on promoting free classified ads. The organization is poised to become the leading platform for multi-media solutions.

The AFCP represents publishers of more than 3,000 free-circulation community papers, reaching an average of 45 million homes weekly. The 2007 AFCP Awards Contest received over 4,500 entries this year, making it the largest in AFCP’s history. The NAHP is a nonprofit trade advocacy organization. The Annual NAHP Hispanic Print Awards are the largest Hispanic media awards in the United States, receiving more than 700 entries.

El Clasificado is a free Spanish-language classified publication, which more than 1 million readers utilize every week as a source of information on everything from health and education to consumer alerts and real estate. El Clasificado is distributed in over 140 cities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, and has a verified weekly circulation of 250,000.
