“Reggaeton icon Daddy Yankee is sure to get people moving as he rides this year’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade in style as the exclusive artist aboard the MTV Tr3s float on June 10th in New York City. “My music represents a lot of dancing, I’m from the Caribbean, I’m from Puerto Rico, zone of the rhythm, nosotros llevamos la musica por nuestras venas,” says Daddy Yankee about his Puerto Rican roots.
The Puerto Rican Day parade is attended by more than two million people who line New York’s Fifth Avenue, making it one of the largest outdoor events in the United States.
MTV Tr3s viewers will have a front row seat to the parade in a special “Mi TRL” that highlights VJ Carlos Santos’ first-ever Puerto Rican Day Parade experience on June 14th at 4:30 PM Eastern. And “Sucker Free Latino” broadcasts a special Puerto Rican Day Parade edition featuring Daddy Yankee and other artists participating in the parade on June 18th at 4:30 PM Eastern.
MTV Tr3s is currently giving Daddy Yankee fans exclusive access to the artist and his music in Artist of the Month programming that includes:
“Hachetetepe,” an original MTV Tr3s production that features Daddy Yankee in an intimate, first-hand narrative style with an interactive twist: viewers will see what a day in the life of Daddy Yankee is like, and then go to mtvtr3s.com and read Yankee’s first hand perspective in a special blog created specifically to talk about the events that transpired on the show. In their blog, viewers will have access to exclusive footage and photos, that didn’t make it on the show. They can start their own conversations with each other about what they just learned about Yankee, thereby deepening their viewing experience. “Hachetetepe,” premieres on Sunday, May 20th at 2 PM Eastern.
“Sucker Free Latino Memorial Day Marathon: Hosted by Daddy Yankee” is a six hour dose of the newest urban hits all wrapped up with everything MTV Tr3s viewers ever wanted to know about Daddy Yankee. Premieres Monday, May 28, 12 PM – 6 PM.
MTV Tr3s is the most-widely distributed TV network dedicated to superserving today’s bicultural Latino youth. MTV Tr3s programming is rooted in the fusion of American and Latino music, cultures, lifestyles and languages. Music programming is at the core of MTV Tr3s and the channel features hitmakers, emerging artists and new sounds that resonate with young U.S. Latinos. In addition to music programming, MTV Tr3s programming slate also features lifestyle series, news, documentaries and other long-form programs that celebrate US Latino hybrid identity and culture. “
