GobiernoUSA.gov just made its wealth of official government information in Spanish easier to find as part of its crisp, updated Web site, the U.S. General Services Administration GSA announced today.

“Government is of the people, for the people and by the people,” said GSA Administrator Lurita A. Doan. “This is another example of how GobiernoUSA.gov continues to respond to the public’s changing expectations whether you are a teenager, senior, student, or have limited English proficiency. GobiernoUSA.gov exemplifies the benefits of creating a government focused on serving the public, which is an important element to the President’s Management Agenda.”

GobiernoUSA.gov is another effort by GSA to provide the public with official, up-to-date and user-friendly government resources and services in Spanish. GobiernoUSA.gov offers quick access to information on immigration, housing , federal programs and countless other topics from numerous federal, state, and local government sources. As the official source of Government information in Spanish, GobiernoUSA.gov has a responsibility to meet the public’s changing expectations. After extensive usability testing the new design with the public, GobiernoUSA.gov now has a crisp look and feel, reduced clutter on each page, the ability to change font sizes and switch from a topic in English to the same topic in Spanish without going to the homepage, and improved search features. Other features include the addition of RSS feeds and grouping special page functions like "e-mail this page to a friend," "print this page," and "receive updates to this page by e-mail.”

“I am very proud of our ability to be nimble and respond to the changing needs of the Spanish-speaking public. Our goal is to provide accurate, timely and consistent government information and services to the public and this is another step towards meeting that goal,” said Martha Dorris, Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of Citizen Services and Communications, which manages GobiernoUSA.gov and USA.gov. “In addition to these new features, GobiernoUSA.gov and USA.gov continue to provide important information and services that help the public in their daily lives as they complete their tasks with government, as well as provide crucial information during times of emergency. GobiernoUSA.gov – su fuente de información oficial en español.”
