Deportation divides family – U.S. citizen hopes for husband’s return
Tagged: deportation, family, FloridaPosted on: May 14th, 2007“Alexandre Nicolas left for his restaurant job early one morning in February and never returned to his wife and daughter in MetroWest.
Immigration officials arrested the 37-year-old Haitian man — who arrived illegally in Florida by boat about 13 years ago — outside his apartment. Weeks later, they put him on a plane and sent him back to his country.
Nicolas had a pending immigration petition and is married to an American citizen; they have a U.S.-born daughter. But he became one of thousands targeted in Homeland Securitys stepped-up effort to deport foreigners who have sidestepped immigration law.”
