Fight rages over Celia Cruzs fortune

“Over the next few days, crates filled with the Queen of Salsas iconic wigs and shoes and gowns will get white-glove treatment at Miami Beachs Bass Museum of Art in preparation for Wednesdays opening of the Smithsonian Institutes traveling exhibition Azucar The Life and Music of Celia Cruz.

But somewhere in Anaheim, Calif., another cache of Celia objects — at least 36 items — is being treated lord knows how. A mink coat, the Celia Cruz Day proclamation issued by the city of Miami, Celias personal address book and other artifacts are in the hands of a California memorabilia dealer who says he bought the stuff from someone who bought it at auction after folks in charge of Cruzs estate failed to pay rent on the warehouse where it was kept.”
