With Ricky Martin’s worldwide “Black & White” tour currently selling-out arenas across America, and the recent Billboard Latin music year-to-date charts heralding Martin’s “Tu Recuerdo” as the #1 song at Latin radio this year, SONY/BMG has decided to celebrate along with Ricky’s millions of fans by releasing a Limited Edition Tour Pack of the critically praised RICKY MARTIN: MTV Unplugged. Arriving at stores today, May 8th, this collector’s edition package will unite both the chart-topping CD and DVD of RICKY MARTIN: MTV Unplugged for a limited time only.
Released last fall in the same week that Martin was honored by The Latin Recording Academy as the 2006 Person of the Year, RICKY MARTIN: MTV Unplugged received wide critical acclaim and debuted as both the top-selling Latin album and Latin music DVD in the country. The album won praise and radio support for not only offering intimate/innovative acoustic versions of many of Martin’s biggest Spanish language hits, but also three new songs that showcase Martin’s embrace of the indigenous sound of his native Puerto Rico. Of those new songs, the album’s first single “Tu Recuerdo,” not only held the #1 chart position on the “Hot Latin Songs” chart for several weeks, but has had such endurance at Latin Radio that it is still in the Top-5 after eight months on the chart and Billboard recently declared the song the #1 charting Latin single of 2007 thus far. Similarly, second single “Pegate” is such an instant jolt of musical energy that Martin chooses to start each show of the Black & White tour with the new crowd favorite.
