Knowledge is Power!
“In many ways, Lua’s story is the story of an exploding segment of the American population known as second-generation immigrants. They’re a complex and diverse group, born on U.S. soil – or brought here when very young – who are growing up between two countries, two languages, two cultures.
They are often American citizens, but hold a set of cultural values different from both their native-born peers and their foreign-born parents. Some find pride in their ethnic origins. Others cant become American fast enough. Some quickly rise to the top of the socio-economic ladder. Others lag behind.
In short, they’re a generation that eludes labels. Yet their numbers are expected to grow nearly 120 percent from 2000 to 2020, so they’re worth paying attention to.”
