A new chapter for Hispanic writers – Boston

Tagged: , ,

“A steady evening drizzle did not dampen the spirits inside Annunciation Hall in Roslindale last Saturday night as 400 spirited revelers came out to “Bomba y Plena,” the culminating event during Boston’s Hispanic Writers’ Week.

Amid the home-cooked Puerto Rican specialties of rice and beans, flan and pastries, the cadence of some of Boston’s best Hispanic writers reading from their works, and the good company of community leaders and their families coming together, one could easily forget that the most celebrated Puerto Rican band, Plena Libre, was slated to appear on stage at 9 p.m. Even the band itself could not help but partake in the camaraderie that the hall offered before and after their performance. “
