“They Barbie dolls were almost all white and most of them were blond, and there might have been a very few black ones,” said the Flint resident of Mexican-American heritage. “But I wanted a Barbie, so I ended up getting a blond one. I didn’t think about it then, but the message is that youre as a Latina invisible and not important.”"
