“Lt. Rudy Alcantara has been selected as the interim Barstow police chief.
According to John Rader, spokesman for the city, Alcantara will take the reins from outgoing police chief Lee Gibson, who announced his retirement last week, until a permanent chief is selected. In the wake of Gibson’s retirement, City Manager Hector Rodriguez and Gibson met to select an interim chief and looked at the department’s two lieutenants, Alcantara and Rich Harpole, according to Rader. “
