“Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) and the McDonald’s(R) Owner/Operators of the Greater Philadelphia Region are proud to announce the 20 local Latino high school seniors who will each receive a 2007 RMHC/HACER $1,000 college scholarship.

“McDonald’s recognizes this year’s RMHC/HACER winners as outstanding role models within the Latino community,” said McDonald’s Owner/Operator Frank Franco. “We congratulate the winners for their accomplishments, and we are confident that these distinguished students will excel in their future endeavors.”

Winners will be recognized at a special awards celebration on Thursday, May 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. The evening will feature live music and dance performances, as well as a keynote address from Varsovia Fernandez, President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia of Commerce.

Winner selection is based on academic achievement, community service and financial need. Since 1995, $166,000 in scholarships has been awarded in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

RMHC grants approximately $500,000 per year to support programs that directly improve the health and well being of ; supports the Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Delaware Ronald McDonald Houses; and receives its support from McDonald’s(R) Corporation, McDonald’s Owner/Operators, corporate donors and McDonald’s customers.

McDonald’s is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 30,000 local restaurants serving nearly 50 million people in more than 119 countries each day. Approximately 70 percent of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent, local businessmen and businesswomen. There are more than 300 McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia Region, which includes Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware that proudly support the RMHC/HACER program.
