“A state judicial panel Wednesday ordered embattled Judge Jose Angel Velasquez off the Monterey County Superior Court bench for what it said was a wide range of misconduct.

Velasquez was immediately suspended from court duties, though the removal order wont be final for another month.

“He was actually on the bench when we received notice,” said Velasquezs attorney, James Murphy, who expressed disappointment at the decision by the state Commission on Judicial Performance.”
